NOMINITYYPIT

Hi :)

We just learned t-monikko, but Birit did not mention about how words are changing. So, I am studying with another book, Suomi Sujuvaksi and I want to share my findings with you.

In that book Finnish "name words" (nimisanat) are grouped into 2 categories.

A) HEIKKO VARTALO
Name words ending with vocals (-A, I, O, Ö, Y, Ä) except -E

(like in verbityyppi 1)
pp -> p
kk -> k
..

kauppa -> kaupa-   kaupat
kukka ->   kuka-     kukat
leipä   ->   leivä-     leivät

B) VAHVA VARTALO
ending with
- e
- in
- is/-as/-äs
- ton/-tön
- tar/-tär
(like in verbityyppi 3, 4)

p -> pp
k -> kk
..

nappi  -> napi-         napit
takki   -> taki-          takit
..

And some examples here from the Suomi Sujuvaksi..
